Supplying products for television and film is getting to be second nature for Salto, the Spanish based manufacturer of stand alone wire free and wireless access control systems.
Having previously been involved with programmes such as ‘Secret Diary of a Call Girl' and ‘The Gadget Show' Salto will soon be appearing in its first Hollywood film "Gambit" which is currently shooting on location in London.
The film is directed by Michael Hoffman (The Last Station) and based on a screenplay written by Academy Award winners Joel and Ethan Coen (True Grit, No Country for Old Men) and features actor Colin Firth fresh from his Oscar win for "The King's Speech", Cameron Diaz from "Bad Teacher" and Alan Rickman.
Shooting in London and in New Mexico, the story centers on British art curator Harry Deane (Firth) who devises a finely-crafted scheme to con England's richest man and avid art collector, Lionel Shabandar, (Rickman) into purchasing a fake Monet painting. In order to bait his buyer, he recruits a Texas rodeo queen (Diaz) to cross the pond and pose as a woman whose grandfather liberated the painting at the end of WWII.
In order to make some of the film's hotel scenes as realistic as possible the production company ‘Shabandar Productions' needed state-of-the-art hotel locks. To meet this need they approached Salto.
Shooting at Ealing Studios in West London, and working in close co-operation with the set decorator Salto supplied and installed its Aelement RFID designer locks to help create a life like hotel corridor environment. The decorator loved Aelement's futuristic looks and minimalistic design, which helped to create just the look she wanted.
Gambit is due for release in 2012.
