Real-time video surveillance solution

Siveillance SitelQ, the real-time video surveillance solution from Siemens, offers several system enhancements with its new market package - MP3.6. This new version includes support of IP cameras, which helps reduce maintenance requirements while providing efficient, centralized management. In addition, the integration with the DELL PowerEdge R200 platform (including an embedded version of the Windows XP operating system) eliminates many areas of vulnerability for hacking, as well as viruses and worms that are inherent to the standard XP operating system.

Siveillance SiteIQ is an automated wide area surveillance solution that delivers unparalleled situational awareness in any environment, enabling security professionals to focus on prevention rather than reaction. The solution transforms traditional security by combining cameras and other sensor input into an intuitive enterprise 3D world, displaying an entire protected site on one screen. It detects, tracks, and classifies activity in real time, enabling the operator to see exactly what is happening throughout the environment, aiding in quick decision-making, incident prevention and a timely resolution.

Operators of large scale environments face numerous challenges in order to protect their site. These challenges include the high costs associated with numerous cameras and required cabling over long distances, the costs for employing several operators to monitor and react to video input being screened on numerous screens, and the necessity to provide secure data and good quality pictures.

As a response to customer input, Siveillance SitelQ MP3.6 adds new enhancements to the existing solution to closer meet these challenges. The integration of IP cameras helps to reduce costs, especially in large facilities, as it avoids the inherent limitations of coaxial cabling. Customers of a large scale surveillance project can save on each camera compared to analog long distance transmission.

In addition, with IP cameras, users are able to capture and transmit live images directly over an IP network, (e.g., LAN, Intranet or Internet) and remotely view and manage their cameras from a web browser or computer - anywhere and at any time. Further savings can be made by powering IP cameras over the Ethernet data network [Power over Ethernet (PoE)], without the need to install power outlets and electrical cabling. Moreover, network cameras offer the advantage of remote and secure accessibility for efficient centralized management and reduced maintenance costs.

With this new market package and the integration of dedicated IP cameras, Siveillance SiteIQ can now offer greater bandwidth control and produce higher quality pictures.

Additional security can be achieved through secure hard disks. With the integration of the new Dell PowerEdge R200 platform, SiteIQ 3.6 offers increased computing power and system performance with the incorporation of Windows XP Embedded operating system. By reducing many areas of vulnerability for hacking, viruses and worms that are inherent to standard PC-based operating systems, the XP embedded operating system offers much more secure environment,

This new market package migration only affects the software configuration of any IP-based sensor appliance used to interface with IP cameras.
