ISO Certification & Smart Access Control: How Companies Can Close Security Gaps Without Renovations
The biggest security vulnerability in many companies is the system that no one questions. Anyone who shies away from making the leap to a comprehensive access control system out of fear of structural chaos is taking a greater risk today than ever before. The combination of smart platform logic and wireless locking components offers a way out of this dilemma. An article by Robert Karolus, Product Manager for Devices at Interflex Datensysteme.

The situation in many companies is paradoxical: At the main entrance, state-of-the-art security technology—including networked turnstiles and cameras—shines. Yet just a few meters away, in the side hallways, the past still reigns. Here, mechanical key rings rattle or outdated electronic locking systems clatter. Manual processes dominate access rights management, and responsibilities are unclear. The result: if an employee loses their key, everyone just hopes nothing goes wrong.
For Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs) and facility managers, this situation is a nightmare. Today, security must be fully traceable and auditable. The “blind spots” created by such siloed solutions pose an incalculable risk. Fears of making the wrong decision, spiraling costs, and systemic chaos during ongoing operations lead to important decisions being postponed—and thus the security risk persists.
