Leonardo launches Genesix, the digital platform enhancing Milan’s integrated urban security
Leonardo continues to expand its role in smart and secure cities with the launch of Genesix, an advanced digital platform designed to support the integrated management of urban security in Milan.
Genesix enables comprehensive overview and collaboration between the operations rooms of the Local Police, Civil Protection and Municipal Operations Centre. It allows for accurate monitoring of the metropolitan area of Milan, coordinating resources, assets and infrastructure in real time and in total synergy.
Urban security, citizen protection and emergency management are now priority challenges that require innovative, cutting-edge technological tools. To meet these needs and enable a new generation of operations for the organisations responsible for managing security in the city of Milan, Leonardo has introduced the Genesix digital platform, which is located in the new Operations Room of the Milan Local Police, situated at the central command headquarters in Via Beccaria.
The new infrastructure is the result of collaboration between the Municipality of Milan and Polo Strategico Nazionale (PNS), using PSN's cloud infrastructure, managed and protected to the highest security standards, alongside a new generation software and technology architecture based on Genesix.
From daily monitoring to emergency management and the coordination of major events, the system guarantees enhanced and simplified operations, both for coordinators and decision-makers in the control room and for operators in the field.
The platform acts as a true “central brain”, capable of connecting heterogeneous subsystems and databases (from the Mobility Department to Civil Protection, from those of the Municipality of Milan to national databases). Thanks to native integration with the mission-critical radio networks of the Local Police, every intervention is activated promptly, ensuring maximum reliability.
Genesix provides operators with constant and comprehensive knowledge of ongoing events, integrating existing systems and thus enhancing the investments already made by the Administration. Based on the most innovative scenario analysis technologies, advanced video analysis and cyber intelligence, the platform transforms data flows into situational awareness for operators, enabling the most effective support for Operations Room personnel in the proactive prevention of potential critical issues and real-time emergency management, optimising response times and resource allocation in the field. In an era marked by increasingly pervasive hybrid threats, the system not only manages data, but actively protects it, being designed as cyber secure-by-design.
